Nathan McGuire
Nathan "Nate" McGuire has achieved several industry accolades over his 20+ year career representing HOAs. He was named a Fellow of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) College of Community Association Lawyers, was named Super Lawyer Magazine’s “California Rising Star” for 6 years running and Super Lawyer each year since 2021, and is the recipient of an AV Preeminent Peer Review designation from Martindale-Hubbell, which signifies the highest level of excellence in the profession.
Nathan is an active member of CAI, Echo, and CACM and a frequent author and speaker on HOA topics. He is also an Emeritus Delegate to CAI’s California Legislative Action Committee (CLAC), having previously served as Chair of CLAC and in numerus other capacities. He has been actively involved in legislation impacting HOAs for more than 15 years. He currently serves on Echo's Board of Directors.
After graduating with distinction from St. Mary's College in Moraga with degrees in English and Philosophy, Nathan went on to earn his JD from UC Davis King Hall School of Law in 2004.

Alex Sohal
Alex Sohal serves as general counsel to common interest developments of every kind throughout California. He has over a decade of experience working with large condominium projects and planned developments, stock cooperatives, commercial associations, and high-rise developments. Alex counsels boards of directors on compliance matters, handles contract review, amends and restates governing documents, and provides legal opinions on general liability issues involving maintenance and insurance matters. Further, Alex assists boards with drafting rules and policies to reduce exposure to liability and bring objective standards to issues in the community.
Alex was selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers from 2022-2024. Alex frequently performs board orientations and trainings in which he meets with directors to review board responsibilities and strategies for navigating different challenges presented by members. Alex has spoken at CAI and CACM Seminars on numerous topics and has several articles published in common interest development communications.
After graduating from UC Davis, Alex earned his law degree from the McGeorge School of law in 2014.

Reggie Schubert
Reginald "Reggie" Schubert serves as general counsel to a wide range of common interest developments. He advises boards of directors on matters such as governing document analysis, legal opinions, contract negotiations, board governance, governing document restatements, and pre-litigation issues. Reggie has a detailed knowledge of business and real estate law. He has more than 19 years’ experience representing community associations, developers and corporate clients with an emphasis on real estate, finance, strategic planning and execution of business transactions.
Reggie worked as in-house counsel to a developer of multi-family housing and master planned communities. His duties included subdivision planning, condominium development, commercial center development and leasing, finance and defeasance transactions, multi-family construction, land acquisition, entitlement processing, and project dispositions.
Reggie attended CSU Sacramento on his way to UC Davis King Hall School of Law, graduating in 2003.

Karen St. Onge
Karen has over a decade of community association law experience that includes helping boards of directors and community managers of residential and commercial developments navigate the challenges of managing condominiums, planned developments, and cooperatives. Her practice emphasizes effective governance strategies that comply with ever-changing laws, while meeting the needs of the community. Karen approaches each matter with an emphasis on understanding a community’s unique qualities and challenges to support effective decision-making.
Karen has served as a liaison between CAI-CLAC and her local CAI chapter, helping engage members in advocacy efforts in Sacramento to advance common-sense HOA laws. She also enjoys volunteering as a speaker and author for CAI, the California Association of Community Managers (CACM), and the Educational Community for Homeowners (Echo).
After graduating cum laude from UC San Diego, Karen earned her law degree from the University of San Francisco and began her legal career in 2007.
